Counseling

College Acceptance: A Match to be Made; Not a Prize to be Won.

While Viz is known for academic excellence, we understand there is much more to a young woman than grades and test scores. Developing the total person intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually is the ultimate goal. Viz subscribes to a highly individualized, holistic approach to counseling, with a dedicated and accredited team of high school counselors who partner with each student throughout their high school experience.

Our counselors get to know our young women as completely as possible over the course of their years with us, gaining a profound understanding of each student’s interests, aspirations, and life goals. The Upper School Counseling Department includes five key counseling areas:
  • Academic
  • Personal/Crisis
  • College
  • Career
  • Testing
Within these areas, counselors strive to help students learn necessary coping skills with regard to personal problems and stress, develop problem solving skills, accept responsibility for consequences of their actions, realize how their actions affect others, set and pursue goals in order to develop their full potential, and to make morally sound decisions within the context of Christian tradition.
