Beyond the Classroom

Discover Who You Are

While it is true that the Visitation Middle School program is rooted in Visitation Academy’s strong tradition of academic excellence, the Middle School offers students much more than just a challenging, exploratory, integrative, and relevant curriculum. As we stated previously, the Viz Middle School is all about opportunity.

In our supportive, faith-based, all-girl environment, students are free to explore and expand all areas of interest and broaden their views, whatever they may be. We truly believe each student who enrolls at Viz has her own special set of talents and gifts, and it is our job as educators to nurture those talents and gifts. Students gain a well-rounded foundation for future success and build an inner strength that will last a lifetime.

At Viz, girls are encouraged to grow spiritually and personally as well as academically. Our Middle School students will blossom and thrive as they explore all the opportunities Viz has to offer

Spirituality

An enriching spiritual life is an integral part of a Visitation education. The school’s mission mirrors Mary’s visitation to Elizabeth, her acceptance of Jesus in her own life, and her commitment to carry Him to others. Students strive to “Live Jesus” by reflecting Christ’s gentle strength in their daily interactions. The class day begins in prayer with the words of St. Francis, “Let us place ourselves in the presence of God.” Students deepen their faith and reflect on their relationships with themselves, their family and friends, the larger global community, and their personal relationship with God through Masses, prayer services, retreats, and community service projects.

Service

Service is one of Visitation Academy’s core values and is an integral part of the Middle School experience. Students engage in a variety of opportunities to “Live Jesus” in service to others, the Church, and the global community. They have a voice in the planning, design, and execution of service projects, and have the freedom to choose causes they believe in and are passionate about.

Through service, our students grow in an awareness of the cultural and social differences that make each person unique and have opportunities to live the Salesian virtues of gentleness, humility, joy, and respect, encouraging a lifelong and loving attitude of serving others.

St. Francis de Sales

To carry God on the tongue with beautiful words, to carry God in the heart with beautiful affections, is not everything. We must carry Him in our arms with good works.
