The Spirit of Annecy Capital Campaign

Why The Spirit of Annecy?

Annecy is a small Alpine town in France nestled 25 miles south of Geneva on the shores of Lake Annecy. The friendship of St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal flourished in Annecy, and as a result, Annecy is where the Visitation Sisters were founded.

For the Visitation Sisters, Annecy is both a spiritual home and a symbol of the great values of their community. In 1833, Visitation Academy became the “Annecy” of St. Louis. Inspired by the “spirit of Annecy” and living the Salesian values of gentleness, simplicity, and humility, the Visitation sisters founded the school that is now lovingly known as Viz.

The Spirit of Annecy Capital Campaign is grounded in the great traditions and heritage of Visitation education as we stretch toward the horizons of 21st-century educational leadership. With its $17 million goal, this campaign is set on the firm foundations of spirituality, academics, and community.

Campaign Objectives:

List of 4 items.

  • Creation of a Defined Middle School Home - $300,000 to Goal!

The new Middle School home includes:
    • Nine new classrooms complete with state-of-the-art learning environments and technology.
    • A large gathering space for class meetings or student collaboration.
    • A spacious corridor with generous windows for ample light.
    • Numerous locker bays and study alcoves.
Middle School is a critical time of transformation as girls navigate the complexities of early adolescence. A dedicated environment tailored to the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of girls in Grades 6 through 8 fosters a strong sense of belonging and community. In a space designed just for them, our Middle School girls are encouraged to explore their interests, build confidence, and engage deeply in activities and discussions that align with their developmental stage and are free from older peer influences.

As our Middle School program comprises a high percentage of our incoming ninth-grade students, this new designated Middle School area will help sustain our future growth while freeing up space on the main floors for expanded Upper School classrooms, the next phase of the campus master plan.
  • Increased Financial Aid Endowment Funding - $200,000 to Goal!

Gifts to our financial aid endowment help generate stable, perpetual income, enabling Viz to offer tuition assistance to qualified students regardless of economic circumstances. Requests for tuition assistance increase every year; your gift helps ensure we can meet the need.
  • Teaching Excellence Fund – FULLY FUNDED!

The Teaching Excellence Fund provides resources for faculty professional development opportunities beyond the standard professional development budget. Viz is committed to fostering faculty professional growth by offering teaching excellence funds for global travel, specialized training and certifications, innovative teaching conferences and speakers, and more.
  • Visitation Heart and Mind Ministry Endowment – FULLY FUNDED!

The Visitation Heart and Mind Ministry Endowment was established to forever inspire our students, faculty and staff, administration, Trustees, and other members of our community to cherish and continue to live the Salesian charism of our Sisters.
