Montessori is Buzzing

Tuesday morning, our Montessori students were buzzing with excitement during a special visit from Mrs. Hampton, fondly known as "Honey" by her granddaughter, Holly H. '38. Mrs. Hampton, an enthusiastic beekeeper, brought the world of bees to life for our Montessori classes with an engaging and educational presentation.
Mrs. Hampton read a captivating story about bees to the students and taught them the "waggle dance" that bees use to communicate the location of nectar to their hive mates. The students also learned about the crucial role bees play in pollinating flowers, the different jobs within a hive, and the intricate process of honey production. The children were eager to discover how these remarkable insects work together to create the sweet honey we all enjoy.

The excitement peaked when Mrs. Hampton showed off her beekeeper suit, even surprising the students with a child-sized version! Her visit was a perfect blend of fun and learning, leaving our young students inspired to appreciate and protect the incredible world of bees.
